Well, the sky is clearing as I write this, but I’ve been remembering Muldoon’s poem (if not the title) - 

The plovers come down hard, then clear again,
for they are the embodiment of rain.

Hope I’ve got that right. And here’s a picture of some rain coming back up as a plover would if it were caught in a sewer.
